Read MoreThis website is dedicated to photography, natural history, ecological literacy and, of course, gardening — using “life in the garden” as a working metaphor. I use the garden metaphor with some trepidation because gardening is often understood as the conquest and subjugation of nature, and that is NOT my perspective. Photography posts offer reflections and technical suggestions for creatively engaging with the natural world. Ecological literacy and natural history posts feature local ecosystems and celebrate the plants and animals of the Pacific Northwest. Gardening posts provide practical tips and a vision for producing food, while supporting pollinators and other beneficial insects. Gardening with native (indigenous) plants will be the focus of many posts. Making peace with the garden (Feb 7 2020) is maybe a good place to start and should give you a sense of where I am going with all this.
