Services: Environmental education
I can provide environmental education on a wide range of topics for audiences ranging from school age to adult, including educators, students, home-schoolers, churches and community groups. Presentation content and format can be custom designed for the target audience. Content focuses on growing conditions and the plant and animal communities of the Pacific Northwest, particularly Vancouver Island, although most presentations are broadly applicable. We can include both indoor presentations or workshops as well as outdoor sessions and field work, as appropriate.

Food gardens
Topics include: Design of school, church or community food gardens; working with students or volunteers; curriculum connections; appropriate plant choices; soil building and plant nutrition; pollinators and other beneficial insects; etc.
Native plant gardens
Topics include: Designing a native plant garden; plant selection; gardening for wildlife values; care and maintenance of native plant gardens; plant propagation; curriculum connections for school based native plant gardens in the Pacific Northwest; etc.
Ecoliteracy
Topics include: Principles of ecology; the temperate rainforest; Garry Oak ecosystems; inter-tidal marine ecosystems; garden ecosystems; growing and propagating native plants; invasive plants and animals of the Pacific Northwest; bees and other pollinators; how plants work; etc.
Foundations for creation care
Topics include: Biblical and theological foundations for creation care; creation care and Christian spirituality; understanding and appreciating creation; Christian perspectives on the environment; practical suggestions for creation care; etc.
